RED-Z06 2,221 #1 Posted December 31, 2022 You really have to do it right. This is local to me for "parts or rebuild"...id say she's pretty well done. 1
ebinmaine 67,468 #2 Posted December 31, 2022 10 bolt head? K341? If the carb's tight that's got it's own value. Metal fuel pump? PTO clutch disc? Cam maybe up for a regrind... Block is.... Tired??
stevasaurus 22,735 #3 Posted December 31, 2022 (edited) I'm sure you have some good parts there, but the seller could be paying you to take that boat ancher. Really, the block is shot, maybe get sheet metal. The cam may be worth something to the right guy. The carb...maybe. If I was going to be interested in this, I would have to have the same engine that needed some of those parts. Not worth much to me. RED-Z06 2,221 #4 Posted December 31, 2022 It looks like it was blown sometime around the Reagan administration then stored in a shed 12ft from the Gulf of Mexico ever since. K341 yes. I think they were wanting $80 for it.. 1

squonk 41,100 #6 Posted December 31, 2022 Offer $40. You still have to drive to get it. $10 worth of gas? If he doesn't budge, forget it. Carb and fuel pump is really the only value to it
kpinnc 12,017 #7 Posted December 31, 2022 I wonder how that even happened? Washed it while hot or something? I'd be curious what the condition of the crank and piston is in.

Ive seen a similar failure on a K341 with ether, guy loaded one with liquid summer in the plug hole, and cycled the key...plug sparked, piston must have been at tdc or bdc because it blew the jug off the crankcase..only went up an inch or so but yeah. Liquid summer... Positive uses include potato guns and NOTHING ELSE. Never thought about ether. Yep that'll do her!

Bill D 1,920 #14 Posted December 31, 2022 If the crank, cam, carb, flywheel, stator, and oil pan are good then it's worth $80. Try to get it cheaper of course, but get it.

IIFF the carb is usable it's worth the 80 just by itself. Judging by the rusty internals that's likely also no good.

I like that idea - I've been using Valvoline carb and throttle body for years, also read reviews small shots of WD-40 are good to get one going - it's funny - my C101 sits for 3 months it's either a boost or drain the battery cranking - 416-8 is just the opposite - could sit 6 months turn key a little choke takes right off - even my newer 315 needs a little shot if it sits too long Edited January 1, 2023 by Lagersolut
