clueless 3,002 #1 Posted December 30, 2022 Has anybody ever seen one of these seats before? The wheel horse and cecil pound lettering is embossed on the seat and painted white. 4 1

AMC RULES 37,130 #3 Posted December 30, 2022 Not a factory Wheel-Horse item. Custom made, aftermarket item. 2

AMC RULES 37,130 #7 Posted December 30, 2022 I've seen a few different versions, thinking somebody maybe has some foundry connection in their family.

clueless 3,002 #13 Posted January 1, 2023 The reason I posted was when I purchased it I thought it wasn't an actual WH product, it just looked cool. When I received it, I saw that the lettering was embossed (forged) in the seat. I still think it is an aftermarket seat. My question is if someone went to the trouble to make this, wouldn't you think they would have made several? Since no one here has any info on it I assume it's just a one off. The person I purchased it from was a member here a few years back, but I don't think he is now, he use to sell WH stuff on ebay. By the way, the tractor it's on is Mike's little red 704.

If'n it was sand cast and the mold for the sand wasn't carefully set aside then one would be all you'd get. If someone saved the sand mold then folks with a half decent forge could pour as many as they wanted until that mold wore out.

Really, to do this all you need is some mold-making sand, some scrap iron, a small blast furnace, and a few years of experience, right? (Oh, and neighbors that don’t mind the industrial aroma from the operation would help.)
