Lane Ranger 10,968 #32 Posted January 1, 2023 (edited) I have had several but two RJs standout in my eyes! First from 2016 bought in Underwood, Iowa from Austin McCoid ( who now owns 35 Wheel Horses and contacts me every once in a while to see if I am ready to sell his old RJ back to him)! It was a 20 degree below day when we hauled it back to Elgin, Illinois to drop off (3) RJ/Suburban transmissions to Stevasaurus. The second RJ was one I bought in March or April of 2020 as the pandemic was starting to spread in Nashville, Indiana for $60! It was in the worst shape and I am still tinkering with it but it came along way from it’s 2020 condition! I first finished the cut off hood that was on the tractor when I bought it but several Red Square Members said I should have a original type hood! So I bought three and had them redone. One was actually two that I had front and top rematched to make one good one. I still need to hook up throttle cable and wear in the transmission differential bushings some more in the second RJ! These were rough and May not be beauties but they are nice enough Wheel Horse RJs now! Edited January 1, 2023 by Lane Ranger 9

Yeah the hood and fenders need painting, linkage for the three point lever and some fine tuning. I have a really nice hood and an new seat for it. Not a lot but I have to tear the rear section off to paint it so I can get everything done while it’s apart. Now I just need somewhere to do it.
WHGuy413 2,691 #41 Posted January 8, 2023 I was never good about taking pictures from beginning to end on this project and regret it now. The engine shroud was rotted out completely. The hood was leaded together and coming apart, tires were blown out and one rim was rotted. Engine needed a little work. But I’m happy with how it came out. I’ve changed exhausts a few times and have settled on a stack on it. 3

I usually tend to go to the Bernardston Gas Engine show. I’m going to try to go to the Orange Gas Engine show this year but it all depends on the boys baseball schedule. Last year Aiden played baseball from March til the end of October so I didn’t get to go to a lot of shows.

That would be awesome but I will have to keep my eye on the date of the show and see how the schedule goes. Weekends can get pretty busy once baseball starts.

I owned a second one at one point but life got in the way and I ended up selling it back to the previous owner. Wish I still had it so I could restore it. He lives and breathes baseball. He’s already hounding me to bring him to the indoor field house at my work so he can get a jump on the spring season. He’s been hooked since t-ball. He’s 13 and playing middle school, summer travel team and tournament teams then fall baseball. He’s small for his age but he’s an incredible player with heart and drive and an arm like a rocket. He’s made it further than I ever did in sports. He excels as a 2nd baseman but has a strong enough arm to throw runners out at second while playing catcher and pitches. Plus knows every other position and can fill in anywhere else he may be needed. Alex on the other hand plays baseball and could really care less if he does or not. He has the potential to be better than Aiden but he just plays spring and that’s it. Alex would rather be at the engine show.
