@C-85  , hello, do you have a C -85 ? ,  bought mine new in may 82 , has every one of the modifications  that I regularly refer to , looks like a stocker , but any chronic  issue with it is gone , also  did a 12  horse magnum swap  years ago ,  still my favorite  , engine runs like a bear , just talking , pete

C-85

Yes, I do have a C-85 and love it!  I didn't buy it new, although my families business sold it new, and then after several years (around 1995) the owner of it sold it back to me and I've had it ever since.  I had to rebuild the Kohler 8hp including boring it out, and then it was good up until its crank shaft broke a few years ago, which I'm still puzzled about how that happened.  I hadn't ever seen this happen before to any engine!  We had a used K181 and I've install that so she's going again.  I really love this tractor and still so amazed on what this little 8hp tractor can and has done! :)

With that large hole next to a thin wall it was designed to fail.

I'm betting somebody "tapped" a flywheel to remove it with a flogo-meter.

All kinds of reasons never to strike a flywheel. Of course a casting defect can certainly happen, but still ...
