Depending on what year 312 you have, 8” wheels with appropriate tires on your existing spindles might give you an inch of extra height. (Some later 312s had 6” wheels but very tall tires so their overall diameter was close to 15”--not much different from the usual 16” diameter on 8” wheels.)
