I hope my new friends are staying warm through this storm!

It was 9 degrees here in NE GA this morning. So many of the Red Square members are in the deep freeze of this Artic blast and now I'm seeing headlines that over a million are without power. One headline said that 25% of Maine customers is without power.

@ebinmaineEric are you still on line? Hope so; praying that you're stayin' warm!

Hiya Joe!

We're doing just fine.

Haven't had power for nearly 24 hours. Should be back on soon.

Generator is cooling down the fridge.

Wood Stove heating the house.

Candles and head lamps were in good use last evening.

We sanded Wheelhorse parts by candlelight. 😃

Some storm damage here.

About 7 PM yesterday we had a VERY strong wind gust. 60+ mph or more.

The gray portable garage started over but the Paracord caught on Cinnamon Horse C160 so it held. 😂

We also have a half a tree down in the backyard which pulled the dog's wire out of the house and disconnected a portion of fence.  We'll fix those this morning.

Just another day in the Maine forest!!

Hope all's well with everyone else!!

The start of a Holiday Tradition, no doubt. :occasion-santa:

Trina and I aren't religious in the traditional sense... But I can certainly see a celebration of a Wheelhorse Holiday!!!

We aren't without power..... but... last night the heat pump went out... so the house is operating on emergency heat. Aux heat ran for over 8 hours yesterday... gonna be a hell of a 'lectric bill....

Just... lovely.

Mine locked out also. It is what it is. Duel fuel used to be an advantage but with natural gas prices as they are now the pay-back is a long time.

Our heat is electric and wood. Time split fairly well between the two.

Some folks look at me like I have two heads when I say I prefer electric heat.

It's convenient. Clean. Inexpensive at the time of installation, and comparable in operation costs to other systems that still need other fuels purchased.

IMHO. For our situation. It's the way to go.

i surely agree sure it is convenient, but in Belgium where electricity is $0.60/kw, we heat on diesel oil.

When heating with wood you have it warm, 3 times:  when cutting, when splitting and when actually burning it

heat on ((any)) oil.

After having a major oil spill in our basement a few years ago I can assure you that any oil will be the absolute last thing we use to create warmth again.

Ever.

Funny you should mention that EB.

When I was selling furnaces an objection to propane was "I don't want a bomb sitting outside my house" Always counterd with "You have a 250 gallon bomb in your basement"

Year later a guy had a busted tank to burner line. And 175 gallons of fuel oil got pumped out to his septic. He had to have it all dug up and soil remedated.

Yessir. That's just a few more gallons than we had in the basement.

Wasn't the best way to get the space remodeled...

No younguns; that picture was taken on Feb 22. Just Woodie drakes and hens on a cold mid 20's morning. I call it "Woodie Honey Hole".
