I cant see spending 1/3 of the cost of the entire tractor for snow chains for my ag tires. Thanks for any help. Ed Kennell 38,054 #5 Posted January 15, 2023 Keith, attaching the plow frame to the drawbar is not the best. There is risk of breaking the transmission case. I would like the frame attached to the axle housings as normal. Maybe others will offer opinions. c-series don 8,677 #6 Posted January 15, 2023 Looks like you could easily modify that plow frame to fit the factory rear axle plow mount. You can usually pick one up for 40-50 bucks. I 100% agree with Ed. I would not attach the plow to the draw bar pin, if you hit something you could crack the case and then you’ll be looking for a transmission!! 1 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
656_tractor 14 #7 Posted January 15, 2023 Okay guys, thanks for your input on this. I am not as expert a welder as the fella who helped me with this. His creativity on the hitch attachment is perhaps a risk like you said. I thought I saw this somewhere but does anyone have a link for that bracing? Ed Kennell 38,054 #8 Posted January 15, 2023 If you are a DIYselfer and don't want to invest in a $40 axle bracket, here is a way to mount the frame to the axle using a couple pieces of angle iron. This will also get more clearance for the chains. 1 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

I was thinking something along the same lines.. even just bolted in with 'U' brackets! also in your diagram, what goes over the top of the axle? Thanks. Ed Kennell 38,054 #10 Posted January 15, 2023 No rubber. The top piece is a flat bar with a bolt on front and behind the axle. With this arrangement, you will probably need to remove one wheel to insert the 3/4" support rod. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
