656_tractor 14 #1 Posted December 24, 2022 (edited) Does anyone know any place that makes snow chains for the 656 that arent $200?? I cant see spending 1/3 of the cost of the entire tractor for snow chains for my ag tires. Thanks for any help. Pullstart 62,812 #2 Posted December 24, 2022 Do you have 6-12’s or 23x8.50-12’s on your 656? I have quite a few sets… 1

Ed Kennell 38,049 #5 Posted January 15, 2023 Keith, attaching the plow frame to the drawbar is not the best. There is risk of breaking the transmission case. I would like the frame attached to the axle housings as normal. Maybe others will offer opinions. I'm afraid the chains would also probably rub the pin. 2
c-series don 8,676 #6 Posted January 15, 2023 Looks like you could easily modify that plow frame to fit the factory rear axle plow mount. You can usually pick one up for 40-50 bucks. I 100% agree with Ed. I would not attach the plow to the draw bar pin, if you hit something you could crack the case and then you’ll be looking for a transmission!!
656_tractor 14 #7 Posted January 15, 2023 Okay guys, thanks for your input on this. I am not as expert a welder as the fella who helped me with this. His creativity on the hitch attachment is perhaps a risk like you said. I thought I saw this somewhere but does anyone have a link for that bracing? I figure I can cut this rail to fit hopefully without anymore modding or welding. :/ You guys agree?
Ed Kennell 38,049 #8 Posted January 15, 2023 If you are a DIYselfer and don't want to invest in a $40 axle bracket, here is a way to mount the frame to the axle using a couple pieces of angle iron. This will also get more clearance for the chains.
656_tractor 14 #9 Posted January 15, 2023 (edited) Thanks Ed. Should I put some tough rubber pieces in there to protect the metal as well? I was thinking something along the same lines.. even just bolted in with 'U' brackets! also in your diagram, what goes over the top of the axle? Thanks. Ed Kennell 38,049 #10 Posted January 15, 2023 No rubber. The top piece is a flat bar with a bolt on front and behind the axle. With this arrangement, you will probably need to remove one wheel to insert the 3/4" support rod.
