Sounds like you've got a great start to a Herd there.

Really enjoy hearing about the long term owners. The Other Half and I are fairly new to Horses having bought the first one around 6 years ago.

Pics would be great!

Just a few things to know. You can put your location in the info on a map and you can also become a member.

Members can post pictures pretty easily and I think it's worth the cost. You can post a few pictures without being a member before you exceed the storage limit BTW

i stand corrected about being a member. i meant being a supporter.   which involves paying a fee for some extra benefits. So sorry

From the looks of the weather you will be getting some quality time with the snow blower. If you want to add pictures to a post just click on  choose files... and that will take you to the photo files on your computer, pick one and hit open and it will bring you back.

Welcome!

The vacuum gauge issue is usually one of two things: the tubing that connects to the carb is off/cracked/broken or else the nipple where it attaches to the back of the vacuum switch has broken off. Fixing the first is easy, the second not so much!

Let us know which it is!

@Handy Don,

My nipple at the vacuum switch broke off.

Do you know if those small square vacuum switches are still available ?

Two ways to fix that I know of to deal with the broken sensor switch nipple:

1. @lynnmor (who has a shop full of amazing machine tools :)) made himself a metal plate and new nipple that he sealed onto his existing switch.

2. I did find a source for an equivalent vacuum switches ($$) that I’ll dig up and post -- too busy today. The switches have two nipples -- one side senses vacuum and the other side pressure -- quite clever engineering!

Great !… please do post that.

So would I hook the rubber hose to the side that senses pressure or vacuum ?

Vacuum -- just a heads up to be aware of the difference.

On the 518 and (I think) 520’s, the switch goes to an indicator light. Intent is that if the vacuum reaches too high a level, then the engine is being starved for air and the air filters need changing.

I don’t think my 1994 520H has an indicator light… I will double check that.
