Christmas Weekend Storm

Recommended Posts

This cracks me up for some reason. Live Camera from Buffalo. My son used to live 2 buildings away from this. The store across the street. "WE NEVER CLOSE" is like a beacon in the night. A light house guiding wayward travellers into port and out of a storm! :)

Well I kidded in the previous "Big Storm" thread that ir was 70F in Texas.

Not so this morning, it 12F clear and 10-15mph winds from the north.  Too cold for me!

But the weatherman is forecasting in the 70's for next Wednesday, Thursday

Rained for 24 hours straight starting before light yesterday. Now the wind is blowing about 20 mph with 40 to 50 mph gusts. I guess the trees will start falling before the day is over. Everyone stay safe and Happy Holidays.

The snowstorm really wimped out for us but I'm not complaining. We had nothing on the ground yesterday and this today. It was -10° when I got up and -5° now. 30-40° below windchills. It's supposed to be near 50° late next week so that's how this snow is going to disappear. There's still a blizzard warning in effect on the east side of the lake. With the winds this strong it extends inwards quite a ways. Be safe folks! :)

Well, if we got more then 1" of snow, it is in Buffalo, NY by now.  We did and still have the cold and the wind.  Temperature this morning was -8 F with 40 to 50 MPH winds so a wind chill of around -50 F.  Dangerous cold.  I did not even have to blade the driveway, the wind cleaned it.  I am so glad I did not have to get the horses out in this stuff.  :occasion-xmas:

Handy Don

Last night here in the NYC northern ‘burbs, we had big wind and rain and a peak of over 70º. Dropping now and we are expecting low teens by tomorrow morning but no snow predicted.

We ended up with 5-6 inches here... had to plow this morning in the -30 temperature range.

NOT FUN. But had to be done.

Lock on the gate was frozen solid so I had to cut the chain that wraps around the gate... no way I was going to get the generator out there with the heat gun to thaw it out...

It looks like I may have drifts to move, but I’m waiting till winds stop. I guess we got about 4” but it turned into drifted mounds.767BFFE8-C483-4AF3-BABE-5EF926E4457F.jpeg.20d27faa3a96a8e46c4995527497b36d.jpeg

@Evguy  That is exactly what I thought I would be getting last night.  We had one of those snows some years ago.  I was hoping we would not see one of those again.

2011  BTW, I did move this with the Horses.  :USA:

Perhaps when I finish the B-100 and snow blower I’ll look into a cab.

I have seen a couple of cabs around this area... matter of fact there is a guy in Seymour who has an old WH sitting out in his yard that has a cab on it (can't remember if it has a plow on the front of it or not). Not sure what model the tractor is... but he has a sort of old tractor junkyard... none of which appear to run... LOL

That said, I think you could find one... but I don't think it will be cheap...

Must be nice!

I think I've told you about my neighbor(s) and their feelings about Wheel Horse tractors...

Let's just say... they aren't all enthusiastic about the tractors' size... or usefulness.

Just finished first plowing with the E-141. Very pleased. :banana-linedance:

Two driveways. About 3" total on frozen slop with hard pack drifts 12-24".

5 degrees with -17 degree windchill. :banana-skier:

BTW...

No cab here @WHX?? - you sissy... :ychain:

No chains no added weight.

69% remaining on batteries after 45 minutes plowing. Two driveways... Very impressed with the E-141... :bow-blue:

And best of all... crickets... man is it nice plowing in the quiet... :sleeping-sleep:

Maybe I’ll mount the blower on the gt1800 electric and give it a go, but prefer the Steiner with blade.
