Christmas Weekend Storm

Recommended Posts

stevasaurus

It's rare that we get a Christmas Storm like they are talking about this year.  How about sharing your Christmas snow pictures here for 2022??  :occasion-snowman:  I know I will be plowing snow before the temps drop below zero Thursday afternoon.  :bow-blue:

If you think you got it bad, take a look at this....

Just put a new belt on the 520H 44" two stage blower. So we are ready. Hubby smoked the old one in the wet snow last week. But it was 27 years old and I had it on the big pulley. My bad. LOL:huh: I will post pictures. We'll see if this is the Storm of the Century. LOL

The weather people are calling for 2 to 5 inches of snow, BUT, the wind chill is going to be around 35 below zero.

NOPE, staying in the house !!

Flying through Chicago Thursday morning but will be taking off again at 9:20 a.m. ahead of the snow.  No snow where I am going - El Paso for Christmas and Houston for New Years.

I’ll be waiting until wind stops and temperatures go up, not planning on venturing out whilst it’s blowing.

Since wheelhorse blower tractor isn’t done, I’ll be plowing with the Steiner

@CCW  You will be 20 miles east of me at O'Hare...good luck getting through O'Hare before the storm.  Your morning time may be OK...make sure you check into seeing what is going on...I know some flights have already been canceled and some have been moved up.

Nice Chevy and that aluminum cap. I owned a few of those caps. Easy to take them off with 2 people if the need arises, unlike the fiberglass ones. Don't see many of those around anymore, old school right there    Be safe out there Steve and family :occasion-xmas:

Been watching the weather closely and it has actually improved since this morning.  I have friends who live in the city and they just told me the snow forecast has improved somewhat, but no the cold.  Plane fly better in cold air.  At this writing, 6:10 p.m., all my flights are on schedule.

By the time I was done clearing snow in single digit weather last night, I was comfortable except my fingers were super cold.:( Then of course there is the extreme pain that comes when they start warming up again. When the pain went away I sat down with my computer and hopefully solved this issue from happening in the future. Will give a report on how well they do or don't work as soon as I get a chance to try them out.

With the winds out of the west we should only get the system snow. They were saying 4"-8". The inhouse weather lady just said they just downgraded it to 1"-3" now. But 15 miles north (where our kids are) and they could get dumped on because of the lake effect. Much worse as you go farther north. Time will tell.

Tomorrow and Saturday we'll probably have sunshine but not far north will still be getting the lake effect. We won't escape the wind and cold though. :)

Snow you can keep over there. Just going to be the usual Christmas weather for here on the plain in north west Cumbria. Mostly rain with sunny spells.

Snow started here at 9pm wed night. About 3" on the ground @ 4 this morning & still coming down lightly with some wind. Fun drive to work, could be even more fun going home. Weather man says it should stop by 8pm tonight. Will evaluate weather it's is worth cleaning up tonight or if it will wait till tomorrow, single digit temps either way.

Forecast is calling for 40's & rain for New Year's

We arrived at our central Mo. location yesterday afternoon.  Was mostly cloudy and about 30.  This morning, we woke to a temperature of 3, and maybe 2" of snow on the ground.  Temperature has been dropping all day, we are at -4 now, wits a gutsy notth wind, making the wind chill negative double digits.

The dog did not get our normal mile plus walk today.  Similar weather is forecast for the next few day, so it will be a while before we get back to that routine.

Made it through Chicago this morning before a single flake fell.  Warm (60) and sunny in El Paso.  Not going to miss CT this week.

Seems it was only -4 when I got home from work yesterday, I cleaned up the snow that we got. No heated gloves yet though. :( Hopefully they will show up today.

Woke up this morning to -12 with a wind chill of -40 with winds at 25+mph and a few drifts in the drive way. They can wait till tomorrow when the wind dies down. :D

A picture of my winter wonder land. Stay safe & warm every one!! :occasion-snowman:
