If I ever got a letter like that, I'd be thinking, "what is she buttering me up for?"

Yes, all kidding aside, grand-parenting is great.

And so much easier than being a parent.  But you have to pay those dues to be the grandparent.

@Handy Don  always been in touch with  kids , growing up my mother  loved babies , to the extent of  taking in abandoned babies for  the ny , catholic  charities for 27 years , 2 babies a year , thats  54 babies !  my 3 sisters and I  were taught how to care for and get involved with those babies , just like your little brother or sister , most gut wrenching days , was bring a baby back down to the  sisters , handing over that baby , and getting another one .  local dr,s  at the time , there were  no  baby doctors , would call  about baby issues and my mother would give her experienced advise .  to this day , any time I can handle a baby , I  love it .  pete

What a wonderful example of caring charity you got and lived.

When my son and DIL had our first grandchild here to visit, I would regularly change her. At first, though, my DIL was skeptical. Then my son explained: "He learned how when he was 10 and his youngest brother was born and of course he also did plenty as my sisters and I were growing up. He knows what to do." Then she relaxed. Gotta make allowances for new mom's right? :)
