peter lena 8,610 #1 Posted December 19, 2022 just got a nice card from my granddaughter , thanking us for , all our help and transportation drives. she likes the way we ask questions and make her responsible for things ,and ask her for insight / thought . likes my music collection down in the fly tying zone . likes grandmas cooking and learning how to make and bake things . also likes the way we emphasize , responsibility , accountability , what do you think ? card like that means a lot , she has been listening . being a grandparent is good stuff , the feed back is so worth it , give them a big hug , grandpa 3 5 1 7 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

peter lena 8,610 #10 Posted December 20, 2022 @Handy Don always been in touch with kids , growing up my mother loved babies , to the extent of taking in abandoned babies for the ny , catholic charities for 27 years , 2 babies a year , thats 54 babies ! my 3 sisters and I were taught how to care for and get involved with those babies , just like your little brother or sister , most gut wrenching days , was bring a baby back down to the sisters , handing over that baby , and getting another one . local dr,s at the time , there were no baby doctors , would call about baby issues and my mother would give her experienced advise . to this day , any time I can handle a baby , I love it . pete 2 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

When my son and DIL had our first grandchild here to visit, I would regularly change her. At first, though, my DIL was skeptical. Then my son explained: "He learned how when he was 10 and his youngest brother was born and of course he also did plenty as my sisters and I were growing up. He knows what to do." Then she relaxed.
