Which 36" SD deck do I have? The tag is painted over ):

I wanted to get the deck model # to be able to select parts in the future. I will be needing belts soon. I didn't realize that there were as many 36" SD decks until I began uploading parts lists. I came up with 8 different model #'s made while the B-80 was also made.

year          M#

1973-74   5-0721

1975        5-0722

1976        65-36XS02

1976        65-36XS03

1977        75-36MS01

1977        75-36MS02

1977        75-36xS01

1977        75-36xS02

This deck may be none of those. I looked through the manuals and all have a one piece belt cover that at most exposed just the pully that the mule pully is visible. On this one it is two piece and the idler pully is visible.

I bought this deck to replace the 48" SD that's in rough shape on my '74 C-160.

It came off a B-80 that the PO thinks is '74-'77; not sure of the model #, trying to get it from the person that sold me the deck. I'm attaching pictures hoping it will help. I think that there is only a couple different belts but when I begin the refurbish I need the correct M# for selecting many parts.

I appreciate all the help that you guys have given in the past month on the C-160 repairs.

That deck looks in good shape for a restore!

Try taking some lacquer thinner and gently wipe over the tag several times to remove the paint. Maybe you can reveal enough numbers to narrow the choices down.

If you don't come up with the deck number you can take the bearings and seals and belt down to an industrial bearing supply or possible you NAPA.  They can measure the old ones and supply new ones.

I'm not familiar with that deck, but if it has one pulley mounted on a flat metal slide bar, be sure to replace the 2 black plastic & steel washer/bushings under it. Wheelhorse parts and more has them.

Once you remove all the hardware, carefully look the deck shell over for cracks, especially where the rear deck wheels attach and the deck lifting hardware attaches.

i think the cracking was a bigger problem on the larger decks than the smaller decks, but now's the time to find any cracks.
