Need help finding the correct belt sizes to order from WheelHorsePartsandMore

Is there a guide for selecting the correct belts? I want to replace all three.

1--  I have a C-160 8 speed  M# 1-0380 that came with a 48" deck that was rough. I know that the main drive belt is a #7473.

2--  I couldn't get numbers off of the accessory drive belt (that runs through the mule) but cut it and it is 100 inches long. Can some one tell me the WH Belt #? Does it matter that I am changing from a 48" deck to a 36"? My guess is NO if the top pully on the 36" deck is the same diameter. Would it be in a different location causing it to need a different belt?

3-- The 36" deck that I found came from a B-80 and the tag has been painted over. I need to replace the spindle belt. What size should it be? I can cut and measure that belt if that's the easiest way to get the size.

Likely you already have the info I pasted below.

Not sure if there's any help there...?

The 36" mower is one that I bought later that came off of a B-80.

Except which model that I have to use the chart. The tag was painted over.

I found the manuals for decks and assume it's from a '74 to '77, the years of the B-80 that it came off of. I downloaded all of the 36" SD deck manuals/parts lists from those years; 12 files. I went through each one to get the belt #'s and narrowed it to the 8411 or 105476. I don't see them in Lowell's list.  I can cut the one on it to hopefully determine which of those two.

Take the deck apart and take the belt off. If you cut it you won't remember how it goes on and will be back here asking how it fits. Plus you will able to check the deck tension sliders to make sure they are ok.

8411 is a 1/2" X 77" belt  (4L770). 105476 i a 1/2" X 79.5 " belt (A78) . You can pick those belts up at any Napa or Tractor Supply. Return the one that doesn't fit.

Just do what I do and take pictures.

That way I can forget what I did with the pictures and come back and ask how the belt goes on....

Always do. I'll get the route of the belt.

@GAJoe  done a few of those , recently sold one , opportunity  to replace that belt idler pulley , or  re , grease it , touch up slide bar  teflon  slide washers , local h/w store  pull out drawer section . have to say , normally go thru all related bearing areas ,with clean out and re grease , but thats probably too much . how freely does the mule drive work   ?  typically , bearings smoked , noisy , whining  , also do a re fresh on that . also pto  cone drive belt pulley , needs a clean out and grease re fresh . when the  entire rotational  se up has the correct hi temp grease ,  the set up is quiet smooth , pete

I couldn't make out any numbers on the belt. I measured the belt by marking a spot on the outer surface and measured the outer circumference several times.

It measures 74 1/2" . It was worn very thin in a couple areas. I wonder if the PO intentionally got an undersized belt to run it tighter.

Should I get the 4L770 and see how it does? Or get something smaller?

Get the 77" belt and maybe a 76". Return the one you don't use.
