Mystery pin on 312-8 and 42 inch deck

Recommended Posts

Wendelin Giebel

I discovered this pin lying on top of my mowing deck. It’s 2.5 inches long and we’ll worn with a hole for a cotter pin in the middle. I checked the deck manual but couldn’t find it? Has anybody seen this thing on their tractors?
thank you

Welcome to :rs:

Looks like it’s the pin to raise the mower. Does the mower deck lift?

On the right side is what is left of the weld I believe. If you look up under the tractor, you should see an arm with a hole and some weld remains around it.

I put the mower into a shop for fuel problems. They took deck off for sharpening . No , the deck wasn’t lifting so I bought a generic clevis pin and stuck it in The pin i photographed was found some time later. The pin Didn’t seem to have any means of staying put and serving as the lift pin so I figured I’d try posting it. I guess it it was just badly worn and lost it’s original dimensions . I will search and hopefully find the OEM part as the pin is a little skinny.
thank you for you response.

@Wendelin Giebel     LOOKS LIKE # 27 TO ME , you can pick up a used one or have a new stud welded into your unit , while you are there  , lubricate all related movement spots , pete

Handy Don

A new piece of rod welded back into place on the #27 arm should hold for another 25 years or so.

Good luck!

If you call Lincoln at A-Z Tractor Parts he should be able to fix you up with a good arm like the one @Racinbob posted.   https://www.a-ztractor.com/
