My 414-8 did not respond any differently to cleaning out crap in fuel tank ( loaded with debris ) and new fuel filter and fuel line!, going backwards it would seem now, since i finally realized to drill down farther with fuel pump investigation, 1st time around with no fuel in line and checking pump by turning key on i heard pump “clicking” i’ll say, thought that meant ok, oops not so much! Today with fuel pump discharge line disconnected and going into gas can i found no fuel coming out of discharge side while turning key “on” still clicking at pump but no fuel being sent out. Finally my question to all who have hung with this story this long! lol, Original Mechanical pump (?) still is on motor, would members recommend going back to original Pump (mechanical) or replace broken elec with new elec? Handy Don 12,233 #3 Posted December 12, 2022 My personal experience is that the stock pumps work fine. But I agree with @ebinmaine, in your case continue with a good electric. If you choose to remove your stock pump and cover the opening with a gasketed plate, don't discard the pump. pacer 3,173 #4 Posted December 12, 2022 Chasing this problem should be really basic -- start at tank, if fuel comes out move to next step - filter?, if fuel there then move to pump, if there (or not!) etc, etc. If you arent getting fuel from the pump, then it is the problem, either a bad unit or wiring to it wrong. At one of these points in the routing is where your problem is -- and as @ebinmaine points out there are some of the on line pumps that dont perform well. I had 3 of the most common type (read: cheap!), the round ones, that failed with in a very short time. 3 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

Thank you Ed, pump has filter upstream of pump, downstream might be another filter however i assumed it was a check vlv!, the tractor ran fine till it stopped!,( upstream one looked very old, replaced it with new one, but moved it to between tank petcock and check valve( if it is a check vlv, i mean who puts two filter’s on system, (upstream snd downstream?) thats why i thought i was looking at check vlv right b4 pump, actually its screwed into suction side of pump. 3 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

That is the exact one i took off my machine and replaced with exact same one at NAPA today, no idea how old the “old” one was, but that is the same pump now in a box on DR table till i go out later today and swap it out, there was a filter on discharge side of pump (‘tween pmp and Carburator, on the intake side of pmp was was what i thought had to be check vlv!, I mean who puts 2 fuel filters on gas line?, never got fuel THAT dirty, until in the box with new pmp was what is in lower right corner of your picture, fuel filter, old one ‘tween pmp outlet and Carb looked old and shot, its out and i put new fuel filter ‘tween suction side of pmp snd Petcock at tank, now located under seat, still not gonna use 2nd filter( new one that came with fuel pmp).
