Transmission Dipstick housing broken

Recommended Posts

John Rizzardi

As i’ve discussed my issue with fuel getting to engine (now running, thanks to all members who responded ), after removing seat rear housing to make repairs (and cleaning) easier, i thought the Tranny Dipstick looked odd, plastic housing( at least on my model) was broken off a hair or two above tranny case, biggest easy out i have is a # 5, So to Harbor Freight i go, unless i can pick up a bigger complete set at auction this Sat. with no serial number or model number (faded away) to help. Whats the best source( in members opinion) to buy another housing (JB weld did not work even though i cleaned both ends if housing) meaning both ends of where it is broken. Bolt is in hole till i find replacement, tractor is idle till spring anyway, no more grass cutting and leaf cleanup. Any and all response's will be looked into.

  Thanks Again,

Is this the 414-8 in your profile info?  Is it plastic?  Try finding a piece of metal like flat bar that is too large to slip fit.  Get it hot and insert it into the broken off plastic, melting it’s way through.  It should get you enough grip to pop it loose and turn it out.

Yes it itvthe one i named in my Profile, maybe i should also count my ‘82 Cub Cadet with Loader attachment (wanted a bucket), then came the L275-DT Kubota, (wanted a BIGGER bucket!) Finally, in chronological order, is the 414-8 ‘cause it had a Trac-Vac ( 40+ years of raking leaves, cause we live in the woods for 40+ years.lol

I’d suggest the idea above then, so long as the tube is plastic.  Get it in there an inch or so, then wait for it to solidify and cool down before trying to spin it.

I'll do $30 for both shipped.  My Paypal account is:  daveoman@windstream.net .

When sending money, please make it as "Send Money to a Friend" so I don't get hit with the Paypal fees

JOHN...  Not that I'm an idiot or anything, but I did locate TWO dipsticks # 106447.  They are exactly the same but only one is marked with 106447.  Here are a few pics.  As for the TUBE 106448...  Can't help with that.  Could you use a STEEL pipe instead, (with top 5/8" ID)...same length as the tube 106448 (unknown length).  As you can see, this dipstick 106447 fits snugly into the 3" x 5/8" pipe in these pics.

ANYWAY...  if you want the dipstick 106447 only, I'll do that for $20 into my Paypal account as before...'Friend / Familyy"
