Autos just recently came out with self-driving mode… airplanes have had auto-pilot for years. I have a friend that works in the automotive industry/ research and development… he let me in on an industry secret awhile back while we were discussing these new cars and their self driving systems, and exactly what @clueless was talking about above… He said… Since flying while drinking is a much more potentially deadly action, the FAA established long ago that “any” amount of alcohol was not acceptable when flying, whether the pilot was using auto-pilot or not… He also said… The big auto manufacturers and executives knew this question would eventually arise with auto-pilot on cars, and have been working behind the scenes with the US AG, legal scholars, Constitutional law experts, and the US Supreme Court.
