Any IH experts here? looking at a 1650

So I always have tons of stuff for sale on FB marketplace and am open to trades on occasion. Well I have an item someone wants to trade a cub cadet 1650 for. To me its a great trade. guess it fires right up but they say it feels like its slipping. So guess my question is, do these have temperamental hydros or is it likely just in need of new fluid and a filter? I did a quick search for a manual and i see that it has a "tow valve" of sort like the older sunstrands on the wheel horses. Is there a chance thats not fully closed? Worse case I'll part it out, a running 16hp kohler is worth more than item they are trading for. Also, did the 1650 have dual rear disc brakes?

I fixed one (CUB) that was working sporadically, Napa 1410 filter and Tractor/Hydraulic Fluid. IH Spec.

This is the spec oil I used. It worked so well I started using it in the WH Hydros with good results. It is a 10w30 weight transmission oil.

Real good machines, but ended up almost giving it away. No one seems to want them. ?? Sent it to action cause the inn was full.

Don't know about the 1650 but the 1641 had disc brakes.

Had to take rear cover off to pull axle for seal change.

One thing to check is the rear end mounting holes they get egged out.

This is a repair

With or without rear disc brakes can depend on the year it was built. I have seen CC hydro's both ways. The Sunstrand hydro that CC used was pretty strong. I would check the tow valve or valves before any thing else. Specially if it has the ones under the seat that are  activated by a flip lever. They like to stick in the down/tow position.

The 1650's do have disc brakes and I believe those should have the automatic valves. The valves might need rebuilt, there is a place that does that. It will have a hydraulic lift and some had dual hydraulics. The engine is on a cradle like some of the horses and like the horses, most like to eliminate the rubbers and go to solid mounts. They sell those too. It was the top of the line before they came out with the supers.

You should get it, they are awesome.
