Hi, I have been tasked with helping my brother get his sweet find up to snuff. Someone before us got in there and clipped wires and generally made a mess of things. I got it to the point where it starts and runs but have a few loose wires. So far the two main concerns are up near the starter, two female spade connectors that exit the 5 wire black harness at the front of the motor. I did notice the headlights don't have power at the hood connector, but I am unsure if they are related to these two random wires. Any ideas? Attached is a pic of the wires in question.

Got any idea what model Wheel Horse it is? Is the ignition system a battery powered unit or Magneto? What color are the wires?

:hide:          Just saw it in your title, be right back.

Wiring diagram help?

The wire colors between the tractor 9-pin connector and engine may not be correct.

Want a larger version download the file

Your wires look to be mainly black. There should be a color stripe on them if it has not disappeared.

I’ve studied the wiring diagram with no luck, my engine harness appears to be all black. Furthermore I feel like I’m missing something, I haven’t seen the starter in any of the wiring diagrams I’ve looked at…

The starter is not labeled but shown in the bottom left corner of the engine.

The (+) battery cable goes to it.

I've determined that  one wire that is disconnected on the front of the motor eventually leads to the light blue wire on the dash side of the 9 pin terminal , which appears to go to the neutral switch, however I am unsure if this is supposed to attach to one of the terminals on the starter solenoid? Another wire shows that it leads to an empty terminal in the 9 pin connector, so I am not concerned with that one.  One of the wires that was originally wired to the starter solenoid is a wire that eventually turns into a red wire on the other side of the 9 pin terminal.  This tractor has a starter with a solenoid and a starter solenoid mounted to the frame. I can't imagine this is factory. Any thoughts. I've looked at the wiring diagram and am feeling unsure about the actual wiring of the starter solenoid. I Was able to get it to start and could return the wirnig to that configuration, but have no headlights and no power on that circuit so I suspect there is a power feed issue. I can hear the timer when I turn the key on and all the fuses appear good.

Thank you
