8-25 Riding mower belts

After using my 8-25 mower successfully for several years I noticed the belts were very worn. I replaced the belts and used the mower several mowings this past summer with no problems until as I was mowing the last time the mower would not move in any gear. After stopping and inspecting the traction belt it was almost completely destroyed. Prior to this I had noticed that the engage/disengage lever was getting hard to activate (very stiff). Has anyone had a similar thing happen?

Do you happen to have the long model number and serial number of the tractor.

Sorry for the delay getting back to you.

My Model # is 56132

full serial # is 200291, which I think means it was manufactured in 1992.

I've had it for 7 or 8 years and it sure saves me some labor during the summer mowing season, like to get it back on the road.

@robertsonchris06@gmail.co  have you looked at  any and all related pulley and  lever engagement areas ? that lever engagement stiff area , might be part of a  rusty / binding  related spot. that related belt wear is often related to , bad / binding pulley bearings , frozen / rusty  linkage / lever  areas . any  of that type of problem , increases  the collective  drag on a belt driven set up . the belts are trying , but the resistance / drag is eating the belts . just something that I  would  verify , sounds like a very common  pulley bearing / linkage set up  failure , pete

         Thanks Pete, I think you nailed all the issues that I need to address. I was probably too eager to get it running the first time (and I believe the only time) the belts were changed.

I'll definitely look at all the pulleys, bearings and linkages a lot closer this time around, as you know it's not the easiest job to do hopefully something will jump out at me this time, Chris
