ri702bill 8,327 #1 Posted November 28, 2022 All: Did any red Square Member buy that sad looking 420LSE basketcase, #149 of 200 that was listed in CT on CL?? I say sad looking - it was used and abused, apparently left outside to rust. No pictures, but it looked like a 3 at best out of 10. All the chrome was severely rusted and pitted, and it must have been a worker, it had a pair of 2 link chains on the rear..... I don't see how someone can treat a $7K+ tractor like that......

Moonshine*Connoisseur 435 #6 Posted November 29, 2022 I don't think I could handle seeing the horror , judging by what I just read, might be best if there wasn't any pictures of said Wheel Horse crime and neglect.

ri702bill 8,327 #9 Posted November 29, 2022 (edited) This kind of reminds me of a local guy, a rather "infamous" Landlord that owns numerous rental units - always getting cited for minimum housing violations. A few years back he bought a brand new Caddilac Escalade pickup, about $80K, and had a 8 foot plow installed on it..... looked a bit out of place... I'm not familiar with this model - does the "LSE" stand for "Luxury Seat Edition" ? According to tractordata - 40th Anniversary. And wow, only 200 built? Pretty rare... : 1986 400 Series Garden tractor Production Manufacturer: Wheel Horse Type: Garden tractor Factory: South Bend, Indiana, USA Total built: 200 Original price: $7,950 (1986 ) The Wheel Horse 420 LSE was a limited-production tractor to commemorate Wheel Horses' 40th anniversary.

The one pictured has a non original seat and steering wheel, and together, looks nice. Original seat and steering wheel rim were black. Came with a chrome plated hitch and muledrive. Those wheels look excellent....
Handy Don 12,233 #14 Posted November 29, 2022 (edited) In the CL pictures, it looked like the only "LSE" original extras that remained were the nameplate and the hood. I suspect most of the chromed parts had been stripped and sold separately. The hour meter was over 600 hours. Edited November 29, 2022 by Handy Don
c-series don 8,716 #15 Posted November 29, 2022 Okay I had to do it! Here’s mine, signed by Cecil Pond and currently has 19 original hours on it. 4 7
SylvanLakeWH 25,594 #16 Posted November 30, 2022 @c-series don I see a bit of fuzz on the left front tire in picture no. 1... Perhaps I should bring the tractor over to my place and clean it up a bit for you... Maybe then keep it clean for you, here of course, you know, just to help out... Let me know...

Thing is far from being perfect. I got it specifically to enjoy and from here on, will not be doting over it anymore. Something most people will never do with a low to no hour machine.
