8ntruck 6,999 #326 Posted February 12, 2023 (edited) I like that wood handle on the direction control lever. I've got lots of brush on my KY property that have vines growing around them that make a spiral pattern on the branch. That would make a neat handle. I'll have to grab some next time we visit the property. Edited February 12, 2023 by 8ntruck 2

Did you pick that up in the woods of the Vacation State behind your abode? This is one of 4 tractors I bought up in Port Clyde Maine. 2 C160s and 2 1986 417As. This C160 was a 2012 restoration with very good quality original WH paint sprayed on a surface of horrific prep. Nearly none. The "restorer" didn't even clean the )#$(&@. grease off anything but the top facing surfaces. It needed some repairs so I really was gonna do a quick partial disassembly and repair/repaint. But when I removed all the parts I knew needed replacement it was almost down to frame.... Might's well just go right for it then!! 2

Oldskool 6,644 #330 Posted February 12, 2023 That's a Colossal achievement. It's looking really good. Ever thought of opening a garden tractor restoration shop? Open only in the winter months. Very exclusive. 1

ebinmaine 67,462 #333 Posted February 13, 2023 After getting some chores done and going for a great 4 mile walk we tackled a few things on the tractor this afternoon. First thing, greased the front axle, spindles, and heim joint tie rods. Trina found the ID tag for the side of the tractor. Cleaned it up best she could and used black paint and marker to purrty it up. She then riveted that in it's proper place. In my professional world it's an issue to have hydraulic hoses touching anything when they can move around much. A few days ago I had made a note to protect and fasten mine. They're wrapped with a denim sleeve and zip tied with that and to each other. Much better. Trina removed the ignition coil and condenser. Moved them down a set of holes, reattached and repainted the scratches. In the process she relocated the condenser and turned it on its end. Better protection for that and also MUCH neater looking from the side of the tractor. We finished up installing the choke cable holder. Also installed the throttle cable and it's holders. Trina disassembled and cleaned up the cigar lighter plug, then installed it. That'll be my power source for the 2 flashing yellow/amber lights. She popped the choke knob on. I cleaned the light switch, ignition switch, key and key chain and installed them. The key chain is from a newspaper in Florida. I know the PO had a house there somewhere. Not sure if the tractor ever did. How's 'bout some accessory lighting??? 4 5

I'm thinking about sticking that flat piece to the back at the toolbox where it faces angled downward. That way the traffic behind me and Trina on her own tractor won't be blinded... But it should be a good strong glow for a few yards.

I doubt they will tolerate alot of moisture.

They'll be out of rain snow line up under there. Hopefully if I @peter lena grease the terminals well they should be ok.

ebinmaine 67,462 #339 Posted February 17, 2023 This evening Trina started applying the specially made custom one-of-a-kind decals. Thank you to @Vinylguy !! While she was at that I started laying in the wiring harness. 3 10
Tonytoro416 1,034 #340 Posted February 17, 2023 Looks really awesome. I like the color scheme. It’s different but yet it looks like it could have came from the factory that way also. 2
c-series don 8,697 #341 Posted February 17, 2023 @ebinmaine is that the factory seat latch (repo obviously) decal? I don’t recall seeing one like that?

Size and shape is identical to the one that was on there but that was a reproduction as well, from 2011 or 2012 era. The color now..... Terry and I were talking on the phone with my Aesthetics Professional, Trina, in the background about what to do for decals on this tractor. I knew I was going with a red that is a shade or six brighter than stock so I couldn't use the original color. Just would have looked odd. We were discussing what the options could have been and Terry says, Ya know? I've never seen one that was red with all black decals.... THAT'S IT! I stayed with original red for the decals on the engine because I already had them here from a previous kit. Everything I had to order, I went with the black background base.
ebinmaine 67,462 #343 Posted February 17, 2023 Trina's working from home today and pretty well finished up so she applied the hood side decals. Still not sure what guages I'll use but if I keep an ammeter I wanted the wires as short as possible and also up away from the shift linkage so she swapped the positions of the voltmeter and ammeter. Voltmeter wires are super small and easy to route high up. 4

ebinmaine 67,462 #345 Posted February 17, 2023 I wanted a high cover on the side step sandpaper so we changed the location of a couple decals. 2
WHX?? 48,815 #346 Posted February 18, 2023 (edited) What's the story on the Nelson muff EB? I just took one similar to that off a 1276 parts tractor that was given to Dan and I. I thought it was unique and had character. Managed to save it rusted on and all. No idea if the tink tinker is orginal? Outlet is threaded 1 1/4 NPT... can you say stack? Sure I knew you could... Insides might be rusted rotted tight tho . I'll go get some pics... Edited February 18, 2023 by WHX?? 5

WHX?? 48,815 #348 Posted February 18, 2023 Ours here might be off a Gravely of sorts then. Just thought it weird to have two inlet bungs with one welded shut. Chalk it up to the things we've seen on a I guess.
