Randy We're thinking pretty much the same. As with many "quickie" paint jobs this maroon stuff is holding good in some areas and literally falling apart in others. I'm hoping the smooth looking areas on the sheet metal hold up well. On the hood I'd like to sand off the high spots, sort of using the existing paint as a filler for the pits and rough areas. That will at least give us a visual aid for what needs the most attention. I'm not at all trying for Concours perfection here but a smooth shiny hood sure would be nice to look at while moving snow. ❄️ 🙂 7 hours ago, RandyLittrell said: Looking good Eric!!! Thanks Mister!! ebinmaine 67,469 #52 Posted December 3, 2022 I had the Local Heavyweight Lifting Department gimme a hand getting the transuhmasshion n pump up to the workbench. Got the other two hoses off and pump separated from the unidrive section. Did a bit of vacuuming and cleaning. Removed the screen from the case half. Didn't exactly like what I found... Looks like the remnants of an old bearing cage... 5
ebinmaine 67,469 #53 Posted December 3, 2022 Made a little more headway this afternoon. Brake arm off. Set up my hub puller. Made some progress... Going slow.... But going... And this is where all production came to a screeching halt. I have a video to put together as well. I'll post it later. I'll let it set for a bit and try again. 3

Them 5 star hubs are the originals. These may very well end up in your hands. Fresh paint would be from the repaint back in 2012. I'd agree with your assessment on the hung up key. Any advice for how to proceed?

I've had several 74s with em. This is a 75. Seems to me the thicker hubs started a couple few years after this model year. 6 minutes ago, WHX?? said: Very gently... or just put the moxie to them... well maybe not I'm heavy on 1 inchers not so much on 1 1/8. I believe ya you say so...well just be careful...don't ask me how i know... I don't know if the heat wrench is going to help you out but it won't be lack for trying... maybe try a smaller punch down the key to try and re-seat it it???? Just thinking out loud here. 8ntruck 6,999 #60 Posted December 4, 2022 That punch idea sounds like a good one. Watch how hard you hit the key - you don't want to mushroom the end. Might try to rotate the hub on the shaft. That might rock the key loose.

SylvanLakeWH 25,555 #64 Posted December 4, 2022 Have BBT take it upstairs in the new barn, put it in the middle of the room, and do her thing... If that doesn't work, then have her teach it a lesson...

NA73 70 #66 Posted December 4, 2022 over the years with various other machinery, I've found that sometimes speed is the key when pulling a stuck hub - once it starts moving you need to keep it moving - as long as the force applied isn't going to break parts. hand tools are good most of the time. but there is a time and a place for using an impact gun. I'm guessing that you'll replace the seals anyway so no real harm in warming up the hub with a bit of fire.
ebinmaine 67,469 #67 Posted December 4, 2022 More progress this evening. Hub is OFFF!! Casualty of action... My puller is kaput. No worries. It was a cheapo that shouldn't have lasted even this long. I found a bag of N. O. S. gaskets. Still need to source a couple (?) more. The Paint Department BBT is working on the frame and steering tower. Front spindles and tie rods off. I won't be using them. Sanding is done. She's getting everything cleaned up with acetone. Got some engine decals in the post from @Vinylguy Terry. 2 sets there. One is for this tractor. Also found an N. O. S. Later style headlight lense. Ain't likely we'll use it on this one as it'll be a worker. 3

ebinmaine 67,469 #72 Posted December 6, 2022 BBT/The Paint Department/Trina messed with the qt can of paint some. Fiddling with mixtures along with using a brush and roller. Again I remind you fine folks how NOT to clean a thing. I worked on disassembling the transmission some more. The end of the axle is mushroomed. I'll have to file or grind it down so I can remove the gear. You can see the park pawl is chipped but very usable. I still don't see the reason for the metal pieces..... Yet.
ebinmaine 67,469 #73 Posted December 7, 2022 I've been trying my best to do some little thing every day whether I have time or energy or not. I read about it online somewhere. Fella doing a restoration on a Porsche I think? He stuck to his... "One bolt rule". Busy day today but I got 4 bolts undone, both guages removed, and the voltage regulator cleaned up a bit.
