Help needed to attach blower lift rod to tractor lift arm

Recommended Posts

Panther416-8

Trying to install the two stage blower on the tractor. It stated to install the rear of the lift rod into a hole of the tractor lift arm. Do I remove the arm that is suspended by a chain that normally hooked to the mower deck? It seems to be in the way of the movement of the lift rod.

If it's in the way I would remove it, real easy to do.

I take mine off for my single stage.

& make sure you put the lift rod in the correct hole on the rock shaft.

I never remove it.  Be sure you have the rod in the right way, front to back and top to bottom.

@lynnmor @Blasterdad I have the lift rod connected to the tockshaft as indicated in the attached drawing for snowblower hookup. The uppermost hole closest to where the cross shaft goes through the rocks haft. Problem is when I activate the lift switch to raise it moves the adjustable link in the second picture up but not enough to lift the blower up. I can lower to the last hole on that piece but it won't be enough to get lift. Do I have something wrong? Is there a different  adjustabe link that i need which is shorter? I haven't put the big spring on yet but that would not prevent this from lifting at all.

Look up your snowblower in the manuals section, it will show you how to install your model...

I just gussed at your model...

Thanks Blasterdad. My serial number is 5900151. I'm using this manual for numbers 4900001 and above.  I. Using the rear bottom hole of the adjustment link like it states and the lift rod can't be reversed as it is a much bigger diameter where it connects to the lift link a d a smaller diameter end where it connects to the rock shaft. It looks like I would have more of a lift if I connected the lift rod to the tiller lift cable hole on the rock shaft instead but not much more. It seems if there were additional lower holes on the adjustable lift link I would be on business.  Getting very frustrated on the hours I'm putting into this but hopefully it will come together. Maybe if I find the manual that states 5900001 and up there will be something different for attachment instructions but the one you provided, the 4900001 and upand the 6900001and up one are all similar.

This is the manual with your serial # showing up.

Doesn't show anything different :dunno:

Mine are all single stage, sorry I can't be of more help.

Hopefully some one that has a two stage can help, lots of guy's have them on here, cant really see what's what from the blurry pics in the manual. :(

Beautiful resto job by the way, I've been watching your posts on it.

I have a single stage snow blower and I have a small link that hooks into the arm that lifts the mower deck. I have no idea if it would be the same for a two stage.  :confusion-scratchheadblue:

Thanks Blasterdad. Yep that's the manual I'm using. I hope once I straighten out the lift arm which appears to be bent in the straight arm portion that will help with lift. Also moving to the center rockshaft hole may help as well.

BTW, I wound up leaving that lift arm/chain in place. No issue with interference.
