Another Snowblower Chute Thread

As I've posted before I picked up this tall chute in PA last spring from @"Manic-Mechanic" to replace my aging short chute. I've noticed it's about a 50/50 mix of them having the front deflector on the lower part of the chute or not having one. I really didn't get to try it out because it was too late in the spring but the deflector seemed like a good idea to me so I made one for it. For those who have used a tall chute what do you say? Does it make a difference? If it hurts I can take it off in a minute or so. :)

I think it helps, by keeping so much snow building up on top of the auger housing.  I don't believe it helps with the distance it throws snow.  That depends mostly on the condition of the snow, the speed you're traveling at and the rpms of the blower.

@Racinbob  the issue is the dryness of the snow , its always different , for me the short chute is  the deal , we are always on the edge of  wet / heavy snow  to rare dry / fluffy snow .  that  lower deflector is fine in dry snow , but will  load up , and  block  with wet snow .  think the novelty of  switching that  on or off will quickly  stop.  also when you are blowing  snow favor the sun side pile to assist you in melt down . my snow also also has a wind blown area , that I   use to  enhance my  work . take advantage of  what you  regularly have , have a good turkey , pete

I wondered about snow buildup. We get a mixture of light to heavy. I use silicone spray but if it proves to be a problem it will come off and stay off. As far as direction I try to keep it downwind but sometimes I think there isn't a downwind. :D
