Ed Kennell 40,498 #1 Posted November 21, 2022 Does anyone have a good source for a shaft seal for a 953 hydraulic pump. The part number is 1477. I measure it at 1/2" ID x 11/16" OD x 1/8" wide. I did find a Bolens #1722038 is a replacement.

Lowell carries parts & complete rebuild kits for these pumps. Might need to give him a call if all you need is the shaft seal. https://wheelhorsepartsandmore.com/product/cub-cadet-bolens-ford-jacobsen-hein-werner-hydraulic-pump-seal-kit/ Edited November 21, 2022 by Achto 1

Ed the original shaft seal for the Hein Werner pump was a little thicker than the remake replacements that are out there. I had a few of the originals but have sold all of them over the years. one of the issues with the shaft is the wear on the actual shaft from turning. The newer seals are thinner. One of the things that can be done is to place two seals in the shaft space. There is just enough room for the rubber on the second seal to fit in-the depressed area. I have often purchased Hein Werner parts from Cub Cadet, Bolens and other tractor suppliers for the pumps as they may have other numbers of the part but the pumps and parts are the same!
