Jake Wilkerson 38 #1 Posted November 19, 2022 (edited) First hydro horse I’ve had. Had original filter and not showing any paint removed from the drain bolt. Safe to assume it hasn’t been touched in 52 years. anything to know? I topped it off with Valvoline Dex/Merc ATF and run it around a little bit. Was working fine before but it was 3.5 qts low. Surprised it’s survived this long. Have a couple Napa 1410s on order and 2 more gallons of ATF coming UPDATE : Figured out that wasn’t the drain plug. Original statement still stands that it’s never been serviced though. Letting it throughly drain and going to fill it up with fresh fluid. Not seeing a whole lot of metal or contamination but the fluid was a burnt orange color. Dipstick was extremely corroded. Hoping for the best. oliver2-44 9,756 #2 Posted November 19, 2022 Similar story on my C-160. It had what looked like the original filter and the oil was thick and black looking. I changed it and used it for a month or so then changed it again. Then I used it for about a year and changed it one more time Oil Looks a lot better now. Tractor has run fine, but can tell the hydro has some wear if I use it a long day. 2
Jake Wilkerson 38 #3 Posted November 19, 2022 After what I found I’m surprised it was doing as well as it was, she runs nearly silent as well. Hoping I caught it just in time to prevent catastrophic failure 2
