Found these in the bottom of a bucket of stuff bought at the auction. I am thinking some kind of spring compressor??

I figured someone here will know.

I'm of the opinion that they would be used to support a heavy pair of wooden gates and their posts in a wooden fence. They would be mounted in the top hinge with one cable running to the opposite corner of the gate. The second cable attached to the next line post to prevent the weight of the gate from pulling the gate post out of plumb.

I was thinking top cable pull on a fence that has cable instead of top rail. Pulls cable taught where spliced...

I made a pair of those years ago to squash my wheelers coil-springs and hold them while I slipped the shock body out .

bingo I did a search using ATV Spring compressors and they came up. looks like used as a coil over smaller shock application.

Threw them in the drawer with puller stuff.
