ri702bill 8,319 #1 Posted November 13, 2022 (edited) ...but WH Tractors with weights and chains excite me !! The C81 has the 48" plow and the flush fitting cast iron weights from @stevebo. The 854 8 speed has the 32" blower with the side wings added and filled plastic weights. And all the tires have tubes filled with windshield washer juice. Ho-Dee-Do, bring on the snow !! CCW 1,295 #2 Posted November 13, 2022 Hope you're in a part of RI where the snow actually falls. I grew up in Barrington and we usually had very little snow. Then my parents moved to Foster where they received a fair amount more.
ri702bill 8,319 #3 Posted November 13, 2022 Barrington is just above sea level and very close to the water, and receives the warm air off the Bay. Foster is 700+ feet above sea level, much more inland. It's all about elevation & proximity to the coast... As Salty Brine would announce - "No school today for Foster - Glouster!!" - if you are not from southern New England, that does not anything to you.... I'm in the geographic center of the state, and can get dumped on with a winter Nor'easter.....
D_Mac 8,617 #4 Posted November 13, 2022 I painted these weights up for my 875 this summer. Still looking for a set of chains. 2
ri702bill 8,319 #5 Posted November 13, 2022 Looks good, just needs the WH logo in the center .... with an extra 110 lbs, you may not need chains. Are the tires filled?? That adds weight too.

That adds weight too. The tires are not filled, but im 285 lbs. Last year I plowed with it with no weights and no chains and it did fine. I hesitate to put the chains on because I drive the tractor year round and dont want to mark the driveway up. I like how you have the chains on perfectly No slack and no bungee cords. Some people dont take the time to install them properly. I am also thinking about changing the back tires to 6x12s. I have a set already mounted on rims. I think those would do better in the snow. 1

Foster, RI has the highest point in all of RI. Jerimoth Hill at 812 feet. Take that all those states that think they have "real" mountains.

The Johnston landfill , aka "Mount Trashmore" surpassed the 812 mark a while back......

And that makes me a bit sad. An iconic mountain top being conquered by pile of refuse.
ri702bill 8,319 #11 Posted November 16, 2022 Yup, despite a rather aggressive recycling program here....

I don’t know whether to laugh or cry. That new plastic plant in Butler, PA is now on line: https://triblive.com/local/regional/shell-cracker-plant-begins-operation-in-beaver-county/ The construction of this behemoth sucked up trades people from all around for ages. Now, I like plastic as much as the next guy, but who knows where we’re gonna put it all? Some genius needs to invent a process to turn it into clean burning fuel. Lol. That I’d like to see. I really appreciate my steel Horses, and the preservation Gospel of Grease from @peter lena! 1
