Gunk also make a carb/ parts cleaner, I don't think that it is as effective as Berrymanns though.

I've tried many different kinds... CRC being the one I currently have.

 

You can tell from my "eye roll emoji" ...I don't feel that it's very effective.. definitely going to pick up some B-manns and give that a whirl next time I need to clean a carb!

I've tried Berrymans and Gunk. Both work about the same as near as I can see.

Ok, I have that “occasional backfire at top end” from what the seller said, I trust him. I am going to replace the points, condenser, coil and clean the carb. (Or replace the carb— isavetractors has them). What do you think?

I would start with the most likely suspects, a weak condenser or points are the most common culprits and should be replaced first.

In my opinion it would be a great idea to replace things one at a time.

 

One. Replace Condenser.

Two. Clean or replace points.

Three. CLEAN carburetor.

 

Not sure the coil is part of the equation here.... Could be.
