Yes

And this plug is not installed on the Series I.  Not drilled through.  I think that's for an oil pressure switch?

Yep, that's what I use. Just make sure that you have any rubber seals removed from the carb, cause it will dissolve them.

Gunk also make a carb/ parts cleaner, I don't think that it is as effective as Berrymanns though.

39 dollars at local autozone -- cheaper than amazon

I've tried many different kinds... CRC being the one I currently have.

You can tell from my "eye roll emoji" ...I don't feel that it's very effective.. definitely going to pick up some B-manns and give that a whirl next time I need to clean a carb! :banana-dance:

The first thing I’m going to do is print a manual off here! I’ve got a bunch of Kohler K and Magnum singles, but this is the first twin I’ve ever had! 😀

What is your carb soaking liquid, there Eric? Got something special fa' 'dat?

I've been looking for a good soaking liquid lately... didn't think Epsom salt was a good option... :hide:

Don

I've tried Berrymans and Gunk. Both work about the same as near as I can see.

How would a filter work on a splash lubricated engine?  How would the oil be pushed through the filter?

Ok, I have that “occasional backfire at top end” from what the seller said, I trust him. I am going to replace the points, condenser, coil and clean the carb. (Or replace the carb— isavetractors has them). What do you think?

replace the points, condenser,

I would start with the most likely suspects, a weak condenser or points are the most common culprits and should be replaced first.

In my opinion it would be a great idea to replace things one at a time.

One. Replace Condenser.

Two. Clean or replace points.

Three. CLEAN carburetor.

Not sure the coil is part of the equation here.... Could be.
