Simplicity FEL

So a buddy of @Achtos and mine is a Simplecity & AC collector. 

His wife has it in her head to get him a FEL for his birthday... wonder if she's got any sisters... 

So she finds one on FB and asks us to help her get it. 

Not a terrible looking rig but better than nine hour round trip to get it and the seller is asking 3 and a half Grovers for it. Little high I thought especially with no ags, weights and other things that should be on a FEL..and we all know how better a tractor looks in pics. 

So the question is who made this loader for Simplicity, Ark, Johson? Or is it oem?

Are they rare or scarce? 

I advised her to pass on it and look for just the loader which we figure one can find one it should be around 15 bills.  He's got more tractors to put it on than we got horses anyway.  Then Dan reminds us that if the bevel gear tranny is questionable its a 400 clam rebuild. Long way to go to find out its a questionable tractor.

I haven't seen a FEL with only one front cylinder.  That common?

 

The bucket looks like it's been "well used".  

 

IIFF the loader is worth ... $1.5, 2K??

 

I don't see the tractor by itself being worth the other half of the asking price.  

 

Looks to me like an example of a seller thinking it's platinum coated.

No we don't Joe... I'll check the member map.

I've saw the single dump ram but mostly on older equipment. I have no problem with that as long as it's done right. Appropriately sized cylinder... mounting & pivot points etc. Works for a backhoe right? Come to think I've seen singles on large pay loaders too. Monster diameter.

She has been looking for a while with no luck finding a vintage tractor & loader. She has found a few, actually in the same price range. They were even further away though.

 

I'm hoping that we talked her out of this tractor. I just don't see the value. Not a rare tractor, have no idea who made the loader.

Kubota been using those on some BX machines for a while now. I am not sure of the advantage other than lower initial manufacturing cost? Less to go wrong? More compact?

$1500 for a loader attachment is pretty std. $3500 for that? I wish I could get that for my PK!

Sell your Investment now, loader prices must be going up. Looking on CL there is a 520HC & a C175 two different owners, both asking $3000.

I guess they figure they just be made of gold. Oh well all we can do is shake our heads and pass.

 

We need to stop talking about this... I ain't gonna sleep tonite thinking I owe Craig @cschannuth a couple more grand. 

 

FYI Sqounky I narrowly missed out on a nice PK with an FEL for 600 a few years back.  

 

I been doing some base searches for them too Dan but coming up empty. Need to broaden the search to include Allices I guess.

I got hammered the the the other nite on a Packers win and slept like a baby. Thanks for your concerns tho guys...
