WD45 is powerful, but has no traction.

Looks like that CA has some good wheel weights.

And good tires, what I can see! We have this same 3 bottom plow, it would be amazing to hear that old thing chuggin’ along turning dirt!

Well, I removed the plug and filled it to the brim with old oil, then started dripping oil into the shifter hole, in hopes to fill it up.  Then, I hear something pouring out the rear.  The “draft” mechanism is split (water damage) and is leaking back out.  Water was coming out before the oil.  Ugh.

I realize this will be a long term project, and there’s no need to rush it.

I did figure though, I can remove the side plate where it is written “CA” to access the shift rails.

Them're so big I'd venture to say the wheel weights have a tractor attached!

Glad to hear the vine catcher is yours now.

It's in good hands.

Your assessment on the condition of this machine is on point :laughing-rofl:

Do you by coincidence watch MCM? You reminded me of a clip of theirs

I’m not sure what that is, should I watch it?  :greetings-waveyellow:

I managed to drag it a bit, rock it a bit, then break the rear tires loose.  The valve stems are frozen and I can’t get any air in them right now.  I’ll address that soon.

One thing’s for sure.  There’s enough moss on this to compete with @Achto’s Rat Fink Suburban for the greenest tractor on the forum!

Curious, a WD45 should weigh in at 4000lbs + or -. The CA should weigh around 2800lbs.

I did used to watch them, but it seems they faded out of my suggestions.  Fun stuff they did!

I had a thought today.  Like a Wheel Horse transmission, this one got full of water enough to crack the “share” case.  It’s probably pretty bad.

I'd have to agree that disassembly would be your best bet at this point.

I don't know much of anything about those transmissions. Just from a general mechanical standpoint if it's cracked that bad I don't think I would try to use it at all until I dove into it a little bit to double check what's going on in there.

IIFF the case itself is not structural to the Tractor or holding the driveline together you could certainly JB Weld that to do nothing else but keep the fluid in place.

Welding of course would be an option.

Seems to me there are enough of those around that Parts availability should be pretty good anyway.

I remember going to this place a handful of years back for some cylinder head parts.  This fella told me he has some transmissions minus the hand clutch side and we could find a good one for $400.  That doesn’t sound terrible.  If all else fails, there is a wide front CA not too far away that runs good and has “new tires” for $1,000.  Obviously, I’d like to save what I have more than anything.

New rear tires could run you close to $800. At $1000 for the tractor, it sounds like buy new tires & get a running tractor for $200

Agreed on splitting it.. a cracked case is never good.. cracked anything for that matter.
