Retired Wrencher 5,463 #1 Posted November 10, 2022 Sorry early Am question. If any you on this forum would like to take a guest on this thought. Being this forum is large with lots of members how many tractors where save from scrap. I am thinking from 50 to the 70`s? early 80`s. I know all of you do your part in finding these and saving them. Or just tell to shut up and drink my coffee in peace. 3
SylvanLakeWH 25,596 #2 Posted November 10, 2022 25,000 members plus... I'm thinking at least 50,000 saved given the "collections" of some members...

ebinmaine 67,563 #4 Posted November 10, 2022 Certainly quite a large number. I can't say as I have ever taken any literally out of the hands of a scrapper or scrapping situation but I've definitely questioned it a time or two. We've bought several from a couple different estate sales and I was very happy to see that the widow in both cases was well aware of the value of the machines if not monetarily, for history.
Horse Newbie 7,071 #5 Posted November 10, 2022 Don’t know if they were headed for the scrap pile, but they were definitely in need of some love… I saved 2 so far… My 1984 Work Horse GT-1600, and my 1994 520H… 2 4
Ed Kennell 38,200 #6 Posted November 10, 2022 I probably saved 14 or 15 from the scrap pile. Some are running today and some were parted out to keep others running. 4

stevasaurus 22,763 #12 Posted November 10, 2022 (edited) I know that I have actually saved 5 or 6 from scrap that are still running (3 of those had Tecumseh's). I continue to save the 5 different ones that I have now. Edited November 10, 2022 by stevasaurus
Snoopy11 5,714 #13 Posted November 10, 2022 The only reason that I have as many machines as I do now... is because 5/6 of my machines were scrap. 416-8 800S I don't have pictures of my L-157, mainly because I wasn't a member when I resto-modded it... but this is exactly why I have such a special bond with my machines... My JD machines were in the same condition before I got a hold of them... Don

Moonshine*Connoisseur 435 #17 Posted November 10, 2022 I have 31 wheel horses myself, I would say half of them were saved from being scrapped. 3
8ntruck 7,014 #18 Posted November 10, 2022 The guy I bought my C-195 from about a year ago got a hold of it just before the scrap dealer came for it. He got it running and driving, and I have been slowly working on all of it's other issues since. Still have many items remaining on the to do list.
WHGuy413 2,693 #19 Posted November 11, 2022 I’ve got 3 or 4 that were destined for scrap that I’ve saved for parts.
