Deburring the INSIDE of a hole drilled in a tube?

Recommended Posts

Pullstart

My hydraulic cylinders have blind/clearance holes in them, then the o-ring block has threaded pipe fittings.  I’d like to clock my holes 90 degrees from current state.  Other than moving slow, and having a sharp drill bit to reduce the burr buildup, any thoughts on how to smoothly deburr a hole in an 1/8” or so thick sidewall?  I’ve thought about a flap style sanding drum on my high speed grinder after drilling, or maybe even a carbide burr and a smooth hand to chamfer the holes.

Someone on a forum mentioned clamping the workpiece in the vice, drilling the hole, following with a flap drum.  Not a terrible idea!

Flap drum shud do it simply and easily.

I've got them from 3/4" up to 3', handy little gadgets.

Also a dovetail shaped burr in a die grinder should work aswell.

I have had a deburring tool like this for several years, works well on drilled holes and saw cut edges. Tips are replaceable.

I’ve got one of those too, but I’d like to clean the inside of the tube and don’t know if it would help…

It can undercut the drilled hole if held at an angle.

They make internal bits for that type of deburring tool.

One example

McMaster has them - the one you may want looks like a hook - E300 style.

The flap wheel can leave scratches in the cylinder bore - not good for O-rings,,,,,
