Evguy 556 #1 Posted November 9, 2022 (edited) I’m going to have a look at a c-140? 1977, tomorrow. I’m not finding much information on this, I’m thinking it could be c141. Seller said it runs, shifter needs work, 44 inch deck and a snow blower. I’m guessing it is worth a few hundred asking price. I think i have room for one more Edited November 9, 2022 by Evguy Add 4
ebinmaine 67,565 #2 Posted November 9, 2022 77 would be a C120 or C160. 78 and 79 could be a C141. The steering tower is different. 78+ were straight vertical at the front. Rear fuel tank. Battery up high near the hood. Keep us posted!!

Guy posted one pic from the front, hard to sort it out

tunahead72 2,423 #5 Posted November 9, 2022 @Evguy I don't know anything about the C-140, but a quick search here revealed that they do exist, made in Belgium. It will be interesting to see what one looks like. You know, after it jumps onto your trailer and finds its way to your home, and then models for photos. Retired Wrencher 5,464 #6 Posted November 9, 2022 Good luck. Hope it all works out for you. 14hp is a good size to do most work that needs to be done.

Think. Really think. But serious thought. Into what you think you REALLY need. Double that number... Triple THAT number. Then build. It will still be too small. 1 1

Well it’s not what the seller says, its a B100 manual 8 speed, from decoding the serial plate. Needs some tlc, shifter doesn’t seem to be connected? Hopefully a simple fix

Looks like I have a project for winter
Evguy 556 #22 Posted November 10, 2022 It’s alive! Fired up after a short cranking, no smoke, sounds ok. Engaged blades, deck is quiet. I found shifter bolt had broken nib at pivot, fabricated one, transmission now shifting. low oil in transmission and it looks like a milkshake, probably due to boot at shifter was barely there. ebinmaine 67,565 #23 Posted November 10, 2022 12 minutes ago, Evguy said: low oil in transmission and it looks like a milkshake, probably due to boot at shifter was barely there You are correct. Water leaks down the shifter and right into the hole and also there is a certain amount of condensation that occurs which gets washed all over the place thanks to oil splash every time a transmission is run. Get the front of that tractor as high as you can safely do so and undo the drain plug at the bottom of the rear of the transmission. Let it sit overnight. Drain plug in. Fill it with diesel or kerosene if you can. Drive it around a bit. Repeat repeat. When the fluid you put out is the same color as the fluid you put in, that's when you put gear oil in there. Looks like you got a good runner there. Well done. 1
