Evguy 556 #1 Posted November 9, 2022 (edited) I’m going to have a look at a c-140? 1977, tomorrow. I’m not finding much information on this, I’m thinking it could be c141. Seller said it runs, shifter needs work, 44 inch deck and a snow blower. I’m guessing it is worth a few hundred asking price. It will be interesting to see what one looks like. You know, after it jumps onto your trailer and finds its way to your home, and then models for photos. Think. Really think. But serious thought. Into what you think you REALLY need. Double that number... Triple THAT number. Then build. Well it’s not what the seller says, its a B100 manual 8 speed, from decoding the serial plate. Needs some tlc, shifter doesn’t seem to be connected? Evguy 556 #22 Posted November 10, 2022 It’s alive! Fired up after a short cranking, no smoke, sounds ok. Engaged blades, deck is quiet. I found shifter bolt had broken nib at pivot, fabricated one, transmission now shifting. low oil in transmission and it looks like a milkshake, probably due to boot at shifter was barely there. Water leaks down the shifter and right into the hole and also there is a certain amount of condensation that occurs which gets washed all over the place thanks to oil splash every time a transmission is run. Get the front of that tractor as high as you can safely do so and undo the drain plug at the bottom of the rear of the transmission. Let it sit overnight. Drain plug in. Fill it with diesel or kerosene if you can. Drive it around a bit. Repeat repeat. When the fluid you put out is the same color as the fluid you put in, that's when you put gear oil in there.
