953/1054 Hydraulic Fluid

Recommended Posts

Need a little info today. The wealth of knowledge on this site is fantastic. I'm pulling my oldest W/H out of storage and want to fire it up so I can eventually list it for sale. What kind of oil was used in the belt driven hydraulic lift pump? I want to make sure it's full before I operate it.  It worked when I put the tractor into storage, some 25 years ago. Did they use tranny fluid?  If memory serves me right, I believe it had a red colored oil in it.    Thanks,  Bill

ATF should work, or hydraulic fluid (tractor/trans) would work.  Nice muffler, that looks like it fits nice.  Hopefully it gets running well for ya!  Any reason you’re looking to sell after holding it all this time?

I'd guess that "big can" muffler is out of a C1x5 Black Hood so that'd lead me down the road of an early 80s 10 to 16 HP.
