This is what USCARBS says works on the K301.  Tri-fuel too!  $187.00

Interesting!  Might be neat to try on a tractor.

They're the good ones. Watch out for the diffusers that are basically a plastic gasket with a tube through it. The metal ones will allow for an efficient spray. All I had to do for my Chinese engine on my gen was to reduce the plug gap and it now can run on the 500 gallon tank, or the gasoline if I wish.

tolerate the higher compression

I believe this is because it is essentially a higher octane.  I think I read 104 pump octane.  Compression can be higher without detonation.

loss of power

Which I believe would be approximately 10%.

VERY interesting

Yes, it is!  I guess a bracket could be fashioned to sit on the rear hitch to mount the gas bottle.  Might want to build a 'bumper' around the tank to prevent damage if you are in the habit of backing into things!

Now I'm pondering... do I want to do this?

Duz any y'all know about the fittings on the various size tanks?  The 20 lb gas grill tanks I'm familiar with, but if I converted the Generac generator I would want to use a 100 lb tank.  Are the fittings on the valves the same?  Or ????  I have a perfect place to install a 100 lb tank, outta sight, outta mind, outta view from the street, and a short distance to where I run the genny so hook up would be a breeze... IF the fittings are the same?

That's what the one they show for the Generac is, a gasket with an intubation tube stuck down the engines throat.

Same here.

My understanding is....

Propane/NG as a fuel has less energy than gasoline, which is what causes the power loss.

The increase in compression is specific to propane/NG engines. Not tri-fuel. Propane/NG has a different burn rate than gasoline and can tolerate the higher compression.

Increasing the compression in a propane/NG engine compensates for some of the loss of power caused by the lower energy output of propane/NG vs gasoline fuel.

I've processed the thought in  discussions with @Jrain and @Handy Don

I think I would be a VERY interesting conversion and workable Horse.

I saw a large B&S Vanguard generator converted with a USCarb kit and the owner was delighted. That's what put me onto these. He had it on a dedicated natural gas line branched off his backyard "kitchen stove" and did accept that his max output was a bit lower than when it ran on gasoline.

Except that I'm considering a larger backup generator, I'd already have converted my generator! :-)

The kits that I have seen are exactly that.

For whatever reason... I never trusted that setup... :eusa-think:
