Two Cycle Four Stroke.

Recommended Posts

WHX??

Went and got a backpack leaf blower today.  Stihl BR-800 X ... heck of a machine and was very impressed on what it would move.

Sticks and stones break my bones and this thing moved them all. Mast crop of acorns this year and this beast put them back in the trees.

Got it a a big ACE store with an impressive service dept. and got to talk with the guy that wrenches on them. Seemed to be a very knowledgeable individual.

He said it was a two cycle four stroke but still required  50:1 mix.

I was baffled by this. Said it has intake/exhaust valves?

Someone school me...

Thanks bro... I'm schooled ..dand fangled new technology... :eusa-shifty:

So I asked the guy can I run 40:1 in it? I got a couple of weed wackers that go 40 but all my saws go 50. He says no but how can you damage it? Foul out a plug maybe?

Using  the the canned fuel just because of the ungodly shelf life and you guys know how long they can  sit between uses.

Not sure how it would damage it, more lube should not hurt anything. BUT, why risk it?

I doubt that a 40:1 mix would do any damage to the engine but the EPA and other do-gooders had to give it their combined blessing and that little bit more oil might have killed the deal. Guess it is better than having to carry a big lithium-ion battery on you back!

My old OPE dealer who was a Sthil dealer told me the synthetic oil they use in the canned fuel is so good you can run 50:1 in any 2 stroke made. I ran it in an old Sno Pup that took 32:1 with no issues except less smoke! :helmet:

I have been running 50:1 Stihl Synthetic Oil in all my 40:1 stuff for several years now and no issues. Mix my own with non E fuel. It does have an old school wxhaust aroma.

Magnum 800 bloooooooow-r. Sweet!

At first I thought they might have been using some kind of oil less bottom end.

After looking at the Stihl web site that is a pretty creative setup.

Might be onto something, Hybrid blower. For low blow situations run on the battery, full power acorn launcher 2000 uses both. You know lowers emissions.

So I ask the guy any special break in required & he says no but you should use Stihl canned stuff. 20 clams for a 1/2 gallon. :eusa-shifty:

Got a can for the warm fuzzies but will probably go back to regular canned ️  or Joe's mix.

Next ? Is how many tanks before broke in. Guys says 30 tanks.. 50 minute run time on one tank!

I could see that coming... and the motor charges battery when launching acorns...

Sounds like a bit of both... maybe more like a four. Very well silenced but still need ear muffs. Very well padded and runs smoothly @ wfo with very little vibration to the back.

Any warranty issues with not using their gas?  Don't know if it is still true but for a while Stihl would void the warranty if you did not use their gas. I do see that they will double the warranty if you use their gas.

MotoMix® eliminates the hassle of mixing your own 2-stroke engine fuel while providing superior performance and lubrication. Plus, we stand behind this formulation by doubling the limited warranty when you include MotoMix® with your power tool purchase.

94 octane VP 50:1 2cycle gas at Tractor Supply. I also use VP 94octane 4 cycle gas in my show tractor and for winter storage. Smells a bit like CAM 2 ! :banana-wrench::auto-layrubber:

What I used in my performance engines. Expensive or not, I can't find zero ethanol fuels in my area... and I refuse to put corn mash in my $200+ carburetor... not to mention all the other engine parts that would be effected....

No... dude said I would get the 4y warranty whether I used their gas or not.

But I hear ya ... when I got a husky weed wacker they had me get a couple a quarts of their mix to get the warranty.

I really think it all depends on the dealer and how they are willing to bend the oem rules.
