Zeek 2,286 #1 Posted October 25, 2022 (edited) Hello all! It's been a while since I posted . . . I live in FL now so it's 6 months of warm weather twice a year. I've been working part-time so between that, boating, motorcycles, mowing 5 acres and having a machete accident that set me back a few months, life got busy. Anyway, I live 40 minutes from Leesburg, FL. My wife and I attended shows/tractor-pulls at the Paquette IH Museum and grounds every year. Sadly, the owner Stew Paquette passed way in March this year. The family decided to sell the entire collection and grounds which was auctioned off last week. I didn't want to let a piece of Florida history get lost forever, so we bought one of the collection. We bought a 1940 Farmall H, that originally came from the collection of Richard "Pinky" Provost. His tractors ended up at the museum when he retired to FL and passed way in 2014. So, it's not a Wheel Horse, but IT IS RED! We picked it up last Friday. Oddly, this is what I originally wanted in 2010, but didn't have room for a big tractor when I lived in PA, so I went with Wheel Horses. Now I have room, so... I posted it here because the other thing I learned over the years is there is no other tractor forum as good as this one Edited October 25, 2022 by Zeek 10 15 1

Have fun with her! Yes, I would have preferred the M as well but me and another guy were bidding on the same two. He paid more than I wanted to for the M becuase it needed all new rubber and wasn't quite as nice as the H. Plus the H came from another collection which I kind of though was cool. 20 hours ago, tunahead72 said: Well done Zeek, and great to hear from you again! I treated myself to a 2019 Street Glide Special for retirement from my other job once we moved here and got settled. 11 hours ago, rmaynard said: Geez Tom, juggling machetes is something that should be left to professionals... I'm about 95% on the wrist. . . little bit of nerve damage, but it works the way it should. Xmas eve last year I decided to cut some what we call "elephant ear" plants down at the base (grab/cut/throw, grab/cut/throw) with a brand new razor sharp landscape knife. One glance of a base and bam, through two of the three thumb tendons. Stitched at the ER then surgery a few days later to get things reattached. I must say, that was THE worst pain I ever had in my entire life with whacking the nerve. Then the whole hard cast/soft cast/brace/PT routine. They say you're better off breaking a bone, it's a shorter process. I don't plan on checking. Thanks for asking though 2

We have elephant ears too, but we cut them with these and take the bulbs in for the winter. My son had a tendon detach at his elbow. The surgery was fairly simple to reattach, but as you said, the pain afterwards was bad. I'm glad you are healing. But you got to love those elephant ears. Just a picture for you to remember them by. ClassicTractorProfessor 5,314 #20 Posted October 28, 2022 That is a very beautiful H. I too love the old letter series Farmalls, and own a few of them myself. It's sad to see these museums being shut down and the collections being sold off, but I'm always happy to see the tractors going to a good home after the sale. Not the same museum, Farmall Land was another located in Avoca Iowa that sadly closed 2 years ago and the collection was sold off shortly afterwards.

rmaynard 15,436 #24 Posted November 10, 2022 Watch out Tom, next thing you know she's going to be putting some weights on it, a turbo charger, and a wheelie bar. Those Farmalls make pretty good pullers.
