Farmer darren 5 #1 Posted October 23, 2022 (edited) Good afternoon My mum has moved back to the uk and in her shipping container she has bought back this little Wheel horse. I think it’s a RJ58 but all the ones I look at are different. would anyone be able to help define what it is. I can’t seem to find any that match, it has two pull stops under the steering wheel rather than a lever. also it needs some work, the lever that controls the rear linkage assy is damaged. The fuel sediment bowl assy requires replacement. Would be nice to restore this little tractor with correct paint and parts. We have a small set of discs and a front snow blade assy with it as well any help much appreciated Darren Edited October 23, 2022 by Farmer darren Spelling mistakes 2

Handy Don 12,217 #5 Posted October 23, 2022 Firstly, Welcome to the Forum. If you are looking for folks with serious WH expertise and are generous with sharing it, you found 'em. That is one very, very nice example of an RJ. Your Mum has excellent taste in garden tractors! From the looks in that picture, I doubt it'll need painting, there are several threads here about different wipedowns that can restore the original paint/patina and preserve its original value. There are other threads that discuss the transmission, engine, and other mechanicals. Use the search box with its various options to look in the Files/Documents section for manuals and parts lists and in the Topics section for members' postings. Good luck with your new toy, but be warned right up front...they tend to want to acquire stablemates!
oliver2-44 9,745 #6 Posted October 23, 2022 That's a very nice and desirable antique garden tractor. From what we can see it looks like it is all there. Especially, it has the belt guard and exhaust shield which are missing a lot of the time. The paint looks like it was previously restore, so it might just need a cleaning and a wax to make it shine. EB-80/8inPA 1,641 #7 Posted October 23, 2022 Greetings! A question if I may: Is there an interesting story behind this Wheel Horse in your mother’s shipping container story and would you care to share it? It just doesn’t seem to be the sort of thing most mothers would pack for the trip.

Mickwhitt 4,622 #9 Posted October 24, 2022 Hi Darren from a UK based wheelhorse enthusiast. There are a few of us over here so you won't be short of company. The guys on this forum are great though, and hail from all over the globe. They encouraged and helped me to strip and rebuild my C125 Wheelhorse including a full engine tear down, re-bore and rebuild. Where abouts in this tiny country are you. Mick. 953 nut 55,218 #10 Posted October 24, 2022 As Mike @squonk said you have a very nice 1961 Model 401 Wheel Horse. The muffler on your is referred to as a "shower head" muffler and is a very desirable original part. I would be hard pressed to paint a tractor that is a genuine survivor but it is your tractor and your decision.
