I have often contemplated going to better style tie rods with grease fittings. I keep hoping that my stock tie rods will break so I can change over... but they never seem to wear out... ri702bill 8,325 #4 Posted October 21, 2022 I've made 2 sets, but used the internal threaded rod ends with the plastic bushing. No issues, Used 5/8 zinc plated round stock for the C81, turned the 7/16 - 20 threads on the ends in the lathe. Used 5/8 cold rolled hex stock for the 854 8 speed, reduced the middle to 9/16" diameter, left a short hex and turned the threads as above. Three years on them both - no issues.. Lee1977 6,662 #15 Posted October 22, 2022 I went with heims joints in 1989 when I got tired of hammering them back together. I used heims joints that are brass lined, they are still tight. I have bushed the clutch rod, Pto rod and rebuilt the axle povit on mt C-120. I drilled out the clutch, and PTo to 5/8" and added bushings. the axle povit I made an over size pin and added more metal to the front hitch. 1 3 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

Parts can be bought off the fleeeBay or many other sources. In my particular case I cut the stub to length needed... Then had another member drill the stub to accept the Wheelhorse spindles.
