twisted metal 49 #26 Posted October 25, 2022 I let the glue cure for about 10 days before I put any gas in it. Been about 5 days now with gas in it, no leaks. I have a can of red kote on stand by if it does!

It seems thicker than one might think. JB Weld? It worked on a truck gas tank in a pinch once… about 15 years ago and still doing ok!
twisted metal 49 #29 Posted October 25, 2022 Well, the KBS is @ 28.00 a quart and Red Kote is @ 50.00. That would be an expensive repair for a carb bowl unless you know somebody that already has some. Have you tried finding another bowl? I have an old K181 that still has a carb on it and the bowl is probably good on it if it would fit your carb.
kpinnc 13,744 #30 Posted October 28, 2022 Always wondered if soldering was an option on an old carb bowl. Anyone ever tried it?

It's just a bit of a pain keeping the aluminum hot enough because of how it wicks away heat. I may give it a try. I've got a few pitted bowls in the junk drawer... I have lots of things to keep stuff hot. What do you use for solder? I didn't think tin/lead would bond to aluminum? I imagine one needs to be careful to not melt the object one is soldering. Not sure this one has pinholes, or if it's leaking around the nut where it's corroded and not sealing properly. Holding it up to the sun I can't see any pinholes, so I dunno... Regular tin-lead solder works fine on aluminum wires. Flux helps quite a bit. Prolly a good idea to scotch-brite the bowl to clean it. I'm just speculating at this point. Gonna have to try it out...

I have used BJ Weld to line a carb bowl it last 3 or 4 years before it come loose. Had a Wisconsin Robin with a steel bowl that was bad to rust, I was still using ethnoal gas at that time. And the wheel got 'hungry' and grabbed it out of my hand and swallowed it inside the guard. Stopped the wheel instantly. Needless to say, now that bowl is total junk!

It would be statistically impossible to do it as much as I do otherwise.
