Help identify my round hood

Recommended Posts

twisted metal

I have a round hood tractor that has no identification on it other than the serial number and I can't seem to find a list of serial numbers. The serial # is 26495. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

A simple pic of the front and front axle can help us determine what it is or a side pic two  could help

Good full view pictures of the front, sides, and rear should allow us to nail down the year, perhaps the model.

Round hoods are 60 years old - a LOT can happen over 6 decades with replacement parts that fit, but may not be correct....

Looking at the pictures in the gallery it has a front axle like a 702 but it has an 8 hp engine which could have been swaped in.

Could it be 62495 instead of 26495?  That would say it’s a ‘62 I think.

Serial Number 26495 would make it a 1960 Suburban model 400 or 550 depending on the engine size. Click on the picture to open the manual.

Yeah I'm pretty sure I have A hybrid. I am just curious to know what it was originally and I think that's probably what it was.

Double pulley says 701. Stirrup footrests and front axle says 62 and newer.

Welcome to the joy of collecting Wheel Horses!!!

Can you post a picture of the gas tank. A one piece tank would be 701. A 2 piece tank would be 62 or later

Front axle is 63 or later. Definitely not a 701

I don't have a picture of the tank but it is a two piece tank. I have the tank off right now replacing the gasket for the second time but I think I've got it this time!

On one tractor in our herd with a 2 piece tank, I used KBS tank sealer.  It’s a 3 part system that coats the tank and fills any voids.  No worries any longer about tank leakage :handgestures-thumbupright:
