Good on you for standing up for what you believe Kollin!

I don’t hate JD, I even have one.  It’s yellow industrial.  I still prefer my Horses though.  Like Ford, Ram and Chevy, and maybe even Toyota and other brands, there will always be some poking.  I’m a bow tie guy through and through but understand that it takes all kinds to make the competition, to make things better.

I'd be super curious to know how much overweight that entire assembly is.

WELL into Class A license territory and well over the GVW of that truck for sure.

It's like Kevin says. Every given brand of every given item no matter what it is. You're going to have people that love it and people that don't.

 

I've never been a fan of JD. Some of their models are good. Some of them not so much. I don't find them to be any more reliable or stronger than any other tractor. Their parts availability system is good but the pricing is disgustingly high.

and on the contrary, one might argue that they used new castings, new parts, etc… and our favored brand picked parts from junk yards.  I also appreciate that their parts support is huge.  If I were a farmer, repair support would be everything.  I don’t like how all their parts and software are proprietary to dealers only and a mechanic or even the owner can’t even attempt repairs  without getting locked out of the system.

I'm gonna guess every axle on the set up besides the steer axle is screaming for help 🤣 also with the hood up gonna be a interesting call to the tow business. "It's a chevy pickup but I'm going to need a semi tow truck"

That's the A #1 reason I appreciate them less and less every year.

 one wonders how the parts and service situation will work out for the soon to be built JD autonomous tractors.

 

Then again, those will be so expensive that only the big corporate farms will be able to afford them.

I've expressed my appreciation for JD before--they have stood the test of time with quality equipment. More than a few members here own and use their stuff.

I also admire Wheel Horse for designing and building quality equipment at a lower price point for a particular range of users that happens to include me!

Especially important is that Wheel Horses, having used many "standard" components and straightforward engineering in their designs, can be maintained by ordinary "shade tree" mechanics without having to resort to dealer support.
