Stormin 9,981 #1 Posted October 16, 2022 Picked up my latest acquisition today as mention in, They do breed. - Wheel Horse Tractors - RedSquare Wheel Horse Forum 1974 Wheel Horse B80. 3 speed transmission. Short history. Imported into the UK June? 2015 by a gentleman in South Wales. It was registered for road use September 2015. It was sold on to a friend of mine 2018 - 2019. Sadly he passed on recently and his widow has sold it into my keeping. Starts and runs nicely. Tyres are like new. I don't think the steering wheel is original or even if it's Wheel Horse. It's all plastic and a bit loose on the column. That may get change for one I have off a '75 Raider10. Attention is required to the clutch. Drives ok on the flat but slips if under load. Belt feels a bit slack and I think a new/stronger spring might be needed. Or the belt is a tad too long. Has a new one fitted. Some other things to attend to but nothing serious. The trailer that came with it is a bit rough. I'll tidy it up and as it's the same type as the one I already have, it'll get sold on. Maybe! 1
c-series don 8,644 #2 Posted October 16, 2022 I agree that is not the correct steering wheel, however it does have a very nice paint job! Also nice to see it’s definitely in good hands!
Sparky-(Admin) 21,259 #3 Posted October 16, 2022 Looks very nice! Did it include a mowing deck? I see the mule-drive up front
Stormin 9,981 #4 Posted October 16, 2022 No deck but I have a 36" one if needed. Though the C-125 does mowing duty.
Pullstart 62,648 #5 Posted October 16, 2022 Those compact Euro-hitches are perfect for a front mount hitch addition! As Don mentioned, that paint looks perfect!
c-series don 8,644 #6 Posted October 17, 2022 @Stormin Okay I can’t sleep thinking this tractor has the incorrect decals! It looks so nice I believe it’s worthy of the correct decals? I hope you’ll agree!

Stormin 9,981 #12 Posted November 16, 2022 Just a little update. The throttle linkage on the carb needed a little attention. That's fixed. I drained the oil out of the trans. Not bad. Just a touch of milk. Does need a new drive belt. The one on is not the right type.

Stormin 9,981 #15 Posted December 29, 2022 Got round to paying the B80 some attention today. Been having a problem or two with engaging gears, (They wouldn't), after fitting the new drive belt that Squonk sent me. When the clutch pedal was pressed, the belt guide on the idler pulley was pushing the top of the belt down. This was causing a lot of head scratching. Were the right size pulleys fitted? Was the guide fitted to far forward? I eventually noticed quite a bit of thread protruding from the trunnion on the adjusting rod. So I screwed the rod forward as far as I could and that solved the problem. Pedal better positioned, slightly forward off the vertical. It was slightly back from vertical before. The pedal also came to a stop and gears could be engaged nicely. Something so simple but easily missed. Next thing is a road test and see if it will climb the bank at the end of the green without the belt slipping. Still some bits and bobs to do. Battery carrier has no clamp and the correct graphics to obtain. Maybe, as it is road legal fit some lights and a better seat to replace the old style metal one. peter lena 8,560 #16 Posted December 29, 2022 @Stormin agree with others on the very good pick up , from what you are saying , its off, just a little bit . that clutch set up , has a number of areas to hang up , get some penetrating oil on the clutch rod / linkage areas , make the rust run out , you might also need a stiffer spring , or one of the idler pulleys could be having a bearing issue . personally like to have another , help at problem areas . so you can hopefully see / hear the problem area . we are with you on your quest , good luck , pete
