The Leaves Are Changing !!

Recommended Posts

Moparfanforever

And I had to get out my reliable Work Horse with the dual bagger. I like to bag the leaves and till them into the garden and use them for mulch.

I have had the Work Horse somewhere around 15 years and it sure is a good tractor. I had to do an engine swap when I got it, put a Briggs out of a low hour Craftsman in it.

Trina took this pic just a few days ago while we were collecting firewood in the forest. Obviously you can see that the majority of the leaves in the lower sections of the trees are still green but in the uppers there's some yellow showing through.

Fair amount of the leaves on the forest floor shown here are fresh from this year.

Come on up to Michigan. Bring your tractor and take as many oak leaves and acorns as you want… :handgestures-thumbupright:

@SylvanLakeWH you got oak leaves coming down already?  Mine are still green.

Last week, I noticed that one of the neighbor's maple trees was orange up top, yellow in the middle, then green on the bottom.  Just before the sun set that day, the top of the tree had gone to red, the middle to orange, and the bottom was fading towards yellow.

I'm currently in our Mo. location.  In one of the parks here, there is a maple tree that the southeast side has turned red and is dropping leaves, while the northwest side is still completely green.

Maybe I can talk him into dropping by my place and help me while he is in the neighborhood.  More seat time ya know! :D   A tractor with a tow behind sweeper seems to work best at my place - just so you can bring along the right machinery.

@Pullstart as long as @SylvanLakeWH and I are scheduling @Moparfanforever time, what are your fall cleanup needs that he might help with - while he is in the neighborhood ?

Ya know, if he left right now He could get here in 10 days on the workhorse if he averaged 4 mph for 12 hours a day… just sayin… :D

We live in the forest and my primary concern is keeping leaves off the driveway if rain is in the forecast. The tulip poplar and black walnut trees have already begun shedding leaves as fast as I can blow them off the drive. The beech trees are a golden yellow and the dogwoods are deep red. The white oaks are still green as are the Bradford pear trees and the red oaks are just beginning to turn. We have a few different varieties of maple so we get a lot of color from them.

This is a shot of our driveway a few minutes after I blew it clean.

Leaves are changing and falling here in Western Mass. I guess I should start to think about getting my leaf vac out and ready. We start on picking up leaves next week at work 🤦🏼‍♂️. Only recent picture I have that shows some color. But believe me the colors around here are much better.

Mopar: Nice tractor and bagger. I like to use a backpack blower very handy in tight places, then a walk behind blower in the open. It is every day now or my daily chore. Enjoy the ride.

I’ve pretty much got one tree that drops leaves into the yard.  Being mostly farm land around, it all just blows away.

Not on that one. Just dusted regularly and treated to inside storage it’s whole life…

We have a house in town that has an acorn tree in the front yard and one year sometime back it dropped acorns like that.  Even overwhelmed the squirrels!!

I finally had to use a leaf vac on them, noisy, but it worked.

According to many old-timers an abundance of acorns is indicative of a cold hard wither, God is providing for the critters.

Another cool tree, I have some land on the other side of town. Took a ride over yesterday before the rain and wind, treated to this beauty.
