Trailblazer 5 Questions

Recommended Posts

mpoore

I bought a 1966 Trailblazer 5 at auction recently. I got it running, but I have a couple of questions.

The manual I found is for the Trailblazer 7. It indicates that there is a pin on one of the wheels that can be removed so both wheels are not locked together. Locked wheels adds traction, but makes it hard to turn without scuffing a wheel. My Trailblazer 5 does not have the same setup as far as I can tell. Does anyone know if there is a way unlock the wheels from one another? The only pin I see allows the wheel to slide off the axle.

Did the Trailblazer 5 come with an engine air cleaner? The carb has a primer button that simply covers the air intake to suck fuel when cranking. Someone had messed with the carb that required a replacement, but I see no remnants of an air cleaner or how exactly one could be used with the primer in the center of the carb intake. Photos of what it should look like would be extremely helpful.

Thanks,

Mike

Tecumseh Snow King engines did not have an air cleaner. They just tucked the carb up behind a tin enclosure.

Thank you. That makes sense based on what I see, but surprising nonetheless. I suppose dust is not a problem under the expected conditions.

Yup no air cleaner. Which I always thought was odd as snow gets sucked into the engine and stalls out the King!

I have an old Sears walk behind blower, probably 30, 35 or more years old, with a Tecumseh engine. It has been a good blower, has no air cleaner. The only thing that I have to do, just about every fall when getting ready for snow is pull the flywheel and clean the points. Never fails, don,t know what it is but never fails to loose spark over the summer. Have a 1979 c-101 10 hp Kohler k with snow plow that sets right beside the blower all summer and I have never had to clean the points once in the fall on it. Nether one runs in the summer. Bob
